Welcome to my website!

Hello,

My name is Eva Rubin. I have just finished uploading and setting up this website as a means to keep track of the various projects in which I am involved. The work has just begun! I currently work as an unlicensed (gathering hours toward licensure) mental health clinician serving children and families involved in the Child Welfare System. Most of my clients have been removed from the care of their parents due to severe abuse or neglect and live in level 14 (highest level of care before being in a locked or psychiatric facility) residential facilities because of their behaviors. My job is to help them return and stay home successfully.

I graduated in 2007 from San Diego State University with a master's degree in social work and another one in public health. I have my BA from UC Santa Cruz. I affectionately refer to myself as an Aztec Slug. I am passionate about finding a way to make a significant difference at early ages in order to prevent or at least ameliorate some of the personally painful and socially cost intensive effects of mental health disfunction. As a newbie clinician, I am having to learn a great deal at a fast pace. I am hoping that I can record some of the sometimes frustrating, sometimes amazing, and sometimes humbling moments when working with my clients, the public systems or agencies with which they are involved, while simultaneously trying to get better at what I do.

I hope you will join in an effort to learn, to grow, and to act!

Eva
